ABOUT MADE UNDERWAY

If you’re looking for factory-line perfection, you’re in the wrong harbor.

Made Underway isn’t just a shop; it’s a collection of moments from a life lived at five knots on the Great Lakes. These pieces are born during the summer months, on my Catalina 28 sailboat. I scout our shorelines for the perfect water-washed stone or a unique piece of silvered driftwood.

When the temperature drops and the boat is tucked away for our Wisconsin winter, my work shifts. Those long, quiet months are spent in my studio, transforming summer treasures into finished pieces.

Every item is hand-made and perfectly imperfect. I’m not interested in hiding the character of a weathered sail or the raw edge of a stone—because those marks are the map of the journey.

Whether I’m saving old jeans from a dumpster, being gifted an old sail, or crocheting while waiting for the snow to melt, every piece is made with hands and heart. This isn't about mass-market perfection. It’s about repurposing, staying creative, and seeing the beauty in any object.

100% of the proceeds go directly back into keeping our boat maintained and the journey moving forward.
